EMPTY BENCHES IN PARLIAMENT
TO TUB EDITOR OE I'HE PRESS. Sir.—ln reply to "Fed Up," who seems to be worried only about the Government benches in Parliament, as he mentions the Minister for Public Works and his colleagues as setting us a fine example in regard to not tolerating loafers. "Fed Up" would be well to pay a little more attention to the state of the Opposition benches. On one silting day last week, during part of the discuss'.'m only four Opposition members were in their seals., and the following day at one time only two — a fine state of affairs for a party so desirous of once again becoming leaders of the country! If they are so opposed to fife Government's legislation as they Hvould have us belie.Ve, why not be there in full force to oppose it? Perhaps they could all be found in some remote corner in Parliament Buildings congratulating one another on the big cheques they are receiving for their farm products, etc.. or maybe on a treasure hunt for that lost policy.—Yours, etc., C.R.G. March 8, 1938.
