CULVERDEN SINGLES TITLES

Tlie women's and men's handicap singles played by members of the Cuiverden Tennis Club were won by Mrs J. Creighton and L. Taylor respectively. Results of the later rounds are as follows: Women—Quarter-finals: Miss C. Black boat Miss C. Sterritt, Miss A. Draper won by default. Miss Iris Dalzell beat Miss E. Draper, Mrs J. Creighton beat Miss B. Thompson. Semi-final: Miss C. Black beat Miss A. Draper, Mrs J. Creighton beat Miss Iris Dalzell. Final: Mrs J. Creighton beat Miss C. Black, 60-44. Men—Quarter-finals: J. Denton won by default, J. Draper won by default, L. Taylor beat A. Murray, L. Kingsbury won by default. Semi-finals: J. Denton beat J. Draper, L. Taylor beat L. Kingsbury. Pinal: L. Taylor beat J. Denton, 60-59. Members of the Culverden Tennis Club were the guests of Mr and Mrs M. Bethell at a tennis afternoon held at "Pahau Pastures" recently. Matches were played during the afternoon on the two grass courts, and while not playing members took the opportunity of seeing the beautiful grounds. After afternoon tea had been served Mrs L. K. Sterritt thanked Mrs Bethell for her hospitality and the enjoyable afternoon's tennis,
