MR L. T. COBCROFT

WELLINGTON, March 9,
The death has occurred of Mr L. T. Cobcroft, aged 74. He was prominent in cricket circles from his young manhood, and latterly was well known as an umpire, and did much useful service in coaching players. Born at Sydney, Mr Cobcroft was captain of the New South Wales team that came to New Zealand in 1895-96. He settled in New Zealand 40 years ago, and captained the first New Zealand team that went to Australia. He represented New Zealand again against the Melbourne Club's team when it toured New Zealand in 1899-90. He leaves a wife, two daughters, and a con.
MR F. J. NATHAN

PALMERSTON N., March 9. The death has occurred of Mr Frederick Joseph Nathan, managing director of Joseph Nathan, Ltd., aged 67. Mr Nathan was -Mayor of Palmerston North from 1923 to 1928, during which period many of the city's modern amenities were completed. Mr Nathan was a prime mover in the establishment of Massey College, and played a large part in numerous cultural and social organisations. He was for several years president of the New Zealand Horticultural Society, and a former member of the Town Planning Board. Keenly interested in racing, he had been vice-president of the Manawatu Racing Club, and also owned several horses. SIR CYRIL COBB (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) RUGBY, March 8. The death has occurred at the age of 65 years, of Sir Cyril Cobb, Conservative member of Parliament for West Fulham.
