The weather forecast for Canterbury fend Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Moderat strong south- . Moderate to strong south-west to southerly winds; weather changeable with some showers, but improving. Temperatures cooler. Seas rather rough to rough.

DOMINION The following is the Dominion fore:ast:—

Changeable in districts with a westerly aspect and in the far south, with occasional showers; otherwise mainly fair to fine, but some scattered showers later in the eastern districts of the South Island. Temperatures becoming rather cooler, especially over the South Island. A westerly depression is passing away eastwards, and ,a slight secondary—the last of the present series—is passing in the south. An anti-cyclone extends from south-eastern Australia across the north Tasman.

Winds—Moderate to strong west to south-west prevailing and at times reaching gale force in exposed positions about and south of Cook Strait, 'decreasing to-morrow. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Very •tough at first about Foveaux Strait jand rather rough to rough elsewhere ;on the west coast and in the Cook : Strait area; elsewhere slight to moderate, but later rising south of Banks Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate to (strong south-west to southerly winds land rather rough seas.
