COURSES FOR THIS YEAR

WORKERS’ EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION

The council of the Workers’ Educational Association has decided to open the 1938 season on Saturday, April 23, and to give four public lectures during the preceding fortnight. Recommendations for classes for the year are as follows:

Christchurch —Public speaking, advanced psychology, art, modern drama, international problems, health, English literature, short story, Esperanto, economics, horticulture, music, geography, science, and physical education. Outlying Centres —Sumner: Public speaking. Lyttelton: Public speaking, economic problems. Kaiapoh Public speaking. Rangiora: Science or public speaking. Oxford: Sociology, drama. Timaru: Literature, public speaking, international problems, nutrition. Ashburton: Literature. It has been decided to recommend short courses in psychology at Lyttelton, New Brighton, Sumner, Rangiora, and Kaiapoi, and in literature at Methven and Oxford. An effort will be made to organise classes in public works camps in Canterbury and at the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station, Wigram.
