TUESDAY (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.) OBSCENE LANGUAGE Douglas William Dyer, who pleaded guilty to having used obscene languag in a public-place, was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment. TRAFFIC OFFENCES Reginald Yardley was lined £5 on each of two charges of having affixed wrong registration plates to a venicie and of having used an unlicensed vehicle. For having no warrant ot illness, Yardley was lined 20s. Gem „c Horne, for having aided and abetted in an offence of driving a vehicle wit wrong registration plates, and lor -o av J ing used an unlicensed vehicle, was fined 10s on each charge. . The following penalties were imposed for breaches of the traffic regulations in cases brought by the City Council, defendants being also ordered to pay costs unless otherwise stated:Parking over time limit —Oliver G. Percy Matthews, £8 15s; K. More and Company, Ltd., v. L. Withers. £l2 13s 4d; New Zealand Grinding and Gear Company, Ltd., v. A. Watson, £6 12s 6d; Christopher Francis Cotter, trading as C. F. Cotter and Company, v. G. Chattaway, £3 2s 3d; I. P. Loasby. trading as Loasby’s Garage, v. H. Blazey, £4 2s Bd. CLAIM FOR DAMAGES The Christchurch Tramway Board (Mr J. D. Hutchison) claimed £24 2s 4d from Wilfred Arthur Wilson (Mr W. R. Lascelles) for damage suffered by a tram in a collision with a motor lorry owned by Wilson. Wilson counter-claimed £7 2s Del for damage done to his lorry. Mr Hutchison alleged negligence on the part of the driver of the lorry, and Mr Lascelles contended that the motorman of the tram was negligent. After hearing evidence, the Magistrate said he was satisfied that there was negligence on the part of both drivers, and gave judgment for Wilson on the counter-claim. (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.) F. C. Platt (Mr L. G. Arnold) claimed £6 2s lid from Annie Gosney (Mr H. O. Jacobsen) for bread and buns delivered. Judgment was given for plaintiff with costs.
