SYDENHAM CLUB’S ANNUAL REPORT The activities of the Sydenham Rugby Football Ciyb last season are outlined in the report to be presented* at the fiftysixth annual meeting of the club next Monday evening. The first fifteen Was rather unfortunate in losing some of S* y cases being defeated by the odd point, the report says. In all the games Placed it put up a good performance. The second fifteen began With a surplus of players, but toward, the end of the season, because of injuries and resignations, did not always have a full team. The third grade team maintained a lead in the competition until the .find of the season, when it finished second. The other grades put up good performances, and there appeared to Be plenty of material for the higher grades for the coming season. Representative honours were gamed by J. O, Hattersley, W. G. Brooks, K. Brown, and L. Brown. Hattersley and Brooks played against the Springboks and took part In the All Black trials. Hattersley's appearances for canterbury constituted a record for club players. W. McCammon and E, Barablthe gained places in the Canterbury colts’ team. . Among members who left were J. and j. 0. Hattersley and R. O. Pearce, who went overseas Regret was expressed at the death of a former member, Mr lan Crockett, in England, of Mr T. S. Mortlock, who had given • valuable service to the club for more than 40 years, and was treasurer and later auditor, and of Mr W. E, MUnday, an old and valued member. Trophies awarded at the end of the season were won by G. Rawson < goalklcklng), R. Dacomfae (billiards), and S. Baker (100 yards championship). Receipts from the Club rooms showed an Improvement.
