AIRCRAFT ACCIHENt IN ENGLAND flflE PItESS Special Service.} TEMUKA; February 23. News was received in Temuka today of the death of Pilot Officer Mertort Vivian Baxter, the fifth son of Mr and Mrs I. W. T. Baxter. of Temuka. Mr BaXtcf received a telegram from the Secretary of State fbr Air (Viscount Stvihton) as follows: “Following a cablegram from thfe Air Ministry, I deeply regret to inform you that your son Merton Vivian Baxter lost his life iri ah aircraft accident at Lewes, Sussex, tb-day” Pilot Officer Baxter was 22 years of age. He tfecfeivfed all his training at the Sfeltwatfer Greek aerodro'me.taking an A class licence, m June, 1935. lie left New Zealand in March, 1936. and started training in England in Juhe Of the saipe year, He begatrle acting pilot in No. 1 (Fighter), Squadron of the ttbyal Ait Fbrfe, lit August of that year, and was later commissioned, as pilot officer.
