ESCAPE OF TWO BALLOONS

♦ ONE DRIFTS TO BELGIUM FROM ENGLAND

SECOND SNAPS HIGH TENSION WIRES

(Received November 15, 7.30 p.m.)

PARIS, November 15.

A British observation balloon which escaped from Manton finally came down in a cabbage field in Belgium. The balloon had been missing since Saturday.

By a coincidence a French balloon also broke adrift on Saturday from Trappes, near Versailles. It landed 18 miles from Chaumont in the Haute Marne Department. Two miles of cable trailing behind the balloon snapped a high tension wire, plunging the district into darkness. Workmen disentangled the cable and secured the balloon.
