ANNUAL MEETING HELD
The Savile Cup polo tournament held in Christchurch last" March, aroused much interest'in the game in .Canterbury., Since then a new ' club has been formed at,,Ashburton, and the Culverderi' Club has been formed again. On February 12 next year a tournament at which teams from Parecra, Ashburton, Christchurch, ,and Culverden' will compete, may be held at Fairlie.. ■ . : '
This was announced at the annual meeting of the-Christchurch Polo Club, held in the Canterbury Jockey Club's rooms recently. Mr D. W. J. Gould presided. The annual reportand balance-sheet were adopted. It was announced that play in Christchurch would, begin on January* 8, •', and tha,t the Savile Cup tournament for 1938 would be held in the North Island. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, the Governor-Gen-eral, Lord Galway; president; Mr George" Gould; vice-presidents, the Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, Messrs A. S. Elworthy, J. C. Macdonald, ,H-Acton-Adams, and Dr. Walter Fox; club captain, Mr D. W. J. Gould; vicecaptain. Major G. H. Hutton; committee Messrs G. H. Grigg, H. G. Livingstone. R. M. D. Johnson, G- B. McCredie, R. B- Johnson; executive committee, Major Hutton, Messrs R. M. D. Johnson, G. H. Grigg, D. Gould; grounds manager, Mr G. B. McCredie; secretary, Mr H. D- Livingstone; auditor, Mr J. H. A. Moore.
