LINER DELAYED AT SYDNEY
FOUR MEMBERS OF CREW LEFT BEHIND (Received. November 12, 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 12. The Matson liner Mariposa sailed to-day for Auckland with four of her original crew missing, including three junior engineers and a galley hand. Two substitute engineers were engaged at the last minute. The galleyman had obtained permission to marry and remain in Australia. The engineers were involved in a dispute on the way out from San Francisco. They wanted permission to take their meals in the mess-room with the unlicensed engineers instead of in the saloon, but the captain was unable to acquiesce. The Mariposa was delayed only 20 minutes.
