COPIES OF "NEW ZEALAND

ILLUSTRATED"

CHRISTMAS MAIL FOR BRITAIN TO CLOSE ON MONDAY Many people will wish to send copies of "New Zealand Illustrated," the fine pictorial annual published by "The Press," to their friends in England in time for Christmas. They are reminded that the last direct mail to reach England in time will close in Christchurch on Monday.

The postage rate to all British possessions by direct steamer is Id. The rate via San Francisco and Vancouver is sd, which is also the rate for postage to America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. "New Zealand Illustrated" offers itself as an ideal gift for sending overseas. It contains a comprehensive range of pictures of New Zealand scenes, with particular emphasis on the South Island, and provides an excellent recommendation of the attractions of the country for prospective tourists. It is no less valuable to all New Zealanders who wish to know their own country. A beautiful presentation plate in colour, a reproduction of the painting, "Highland Cattle at Claremont, Timaru," by the late William Greene, is issued as a supplement to "New Zealand Illustrated," It offers a fine subject for framing. The publication itself contains 19 pages in colour, and an attractive gallery of black and white studies, representing the work of the leading photographic artists from both North and South Islands. The studies include views of mountain and lake scenery, the agricultural and pastoral life of the country, and plates of the "two cathedrals in Christchurch. The whole forms a complete and highly attractive view of New Zealand life and scenery. The heavy demand for copies of "New Zealand Illustrated," of which there are a limited number available, makes it essential to order or purchase the necessary copies at once. _
