AKAROA REGATTA CLUB

ARRANGEMENTS FOR NEW YEAR'S DAY

There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Regatta Club. The annual regatta was fixed for Saturday, January 1, 1938. The commodore (Mr F. R. E. Davis) presided. The usual programme of rowing events was extended to include 11 rowing races, a sailing race, swimming events, an aquaplaning competition, a handicap oil launch race, and a darktown crew, to be organised by members of the Akaroa Boating Club. The prize money for the coming events was fixed at £53, similar to the last regatta. It was decided to ask the Akaroa Silver Band to play on regatta day, financal assistance to be given them if funds allowed. Messrs L. J. Vangioni, N. Shaw, and H. L. Dyer were appointed a committee to arange a hamper competition. Messrs W. R. Miles (convener), W. J. Thompson, C. D. Sealey, R. Powell, and A. Davis were appointed to draw up

a swimming programme, and Messrs W. C. Pool, G. E. Whelch, and F. Gracia were appointed handicappers for the launch race. The following officials were elected: Patron, the Hon. Sir R.
