OFFICIAL FORECASTS ITHE PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, November 12. The weather forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Light .to fresh north-easterly winds predominating; weather for the most part fair to cloudy, but a few isolated light rains probable; temperatures moderate, and seas slight to moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate and var/ab/e winds; weather for the most part fair to cloudy, but some scattered and mainly light to moderate rains probable; seas slight to moderate. DOMINION The forecast for the Dominion is:— Weather cloudy to overcast and in places misty, with rain at times in most districts; a few heavy falls probable in the North Island, but mainly lisrht and scattered in the South Island: temperatures moderate to mild. The recent anticyclone has passed away eastwards while the cyclone over the north Tasman Sea lias been moving slowly south-south-eastwards and is at present centred to the west of Cape Maria van Diemen. A series of shallow westerly depressions extends from southern Australia across the south Xasmaii Sea. Winds—Moderate to strong northeasterly to easterly predominating, of gale force at times in the iar north, but somewhat variable, however, south of Westport and Kaikoura. and southeasterlies prevailing at times in the centra] provinces. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough to high, but later decreasing north of East Cape; rather rough to rough offshore north of Farewell Spit; moderate to rather rough in Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea —Strong northeasterly to easterly winds and rough seas in the northern portion; moderate and variable winds and moderate seas in the southern portion. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was warm, with a lightly-overcast sky. There was a strong northeasterly wind. At 1 o'clock this morning the sky was clear and a easterly breeze was blowing. The temnerature was 54 degrees and the barometer was steady at 30.00 inches. IN OTHER PLACES Auckland—A fresh to strong east-north-easterly wind blew with driving rain, and overcast sky yesterday. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees. The barometer fell steadily, the reading at 5 p.m. being 29.90 inches. . Wellington—Light rain fell between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., and most of the day was overcast, but there was a little sunshine during the afternoon. A strong, squally, north-westerly wind blew in the morning, but moderated in the afternoon The minimum temperature on Thursday night was 54.0 degrees, and the maximum yesterday was 59 7 degrees. The barometer reading at 3.30 p.m. was 29.92 inches. Dunedin—The sky was overcast, but the temperature was warm in the morning, the maximum being 68 degrees.
