OUTBREAK OF FIRE IN FACTORY

(PHESB ASSOCIATION TIUOEi.M.I GISBORNE, September 17. Most of a furniture factory owned by Mr H. D. Humphrey was destroyed by fire which was discovered about midnight. The blaze had a strong hold when the alarm was given, and much furniture and other inflammable material was soon destroyed by the flames, but the brigade was able to save the machinery. At one end of the building the flames rose to a great height, and sparks were carried over a wide area, but rain reduced the danger to neighbouring houses. The damage was only partly covered by insurance with the South British Company.
