SHIPPING OFFICERS' UNION
ANNUAL MEETING HELD
The annual general meeting of memjers of the Canterbury branch of the *ew Zealand Shipping Officers' Indusrial Union of Workers was held on Monday night. The report stated that he union had had a satisfactory year, ilthough meetings could have been setter attended. The election of officers resulted: — Chairman, Mr E. J. Shirley (Union Steam Ship Company, Ltd., Lyttelton); rice-chairman, Mr B. S. Lawrence [Kinsey and Company, Lyttelton); secretary and treasurer, Mr J. L. Squire lUnion Steam Ship Company, Ltd.); auditor, Mr P. S. Smith (Union Steam Ship Company); district committee, Messrs H. T. Hempstalk (Shaw, Savill, md Albion Company, Lyttelton), D. Loader (Kinsey and Company, Ltd., Christchurch); K. F. Cochrane (New Zealand Shipping Company, Christihurch), K. C.-Ward (Union Steam 3hip Company, Christchurch), and A M Hintz (Union Steam Ship Company, Christchurch). Messrs J. L. Squire and B. S. Lawrence were elected delegates to the annual conference, to be held at Wellington.
