«B" CLASS BROADCASTING STATIONS

TO TUB BDITOH 0» TUB PW* Sir,—-At the time of the last general election, there appeared in your paper an advertisement, inserted by the local "B" class stations, urging the listening public to vote Labour to ensure the "B" stations Deing aljpwed to continue broadcasting. Labour candidates were using this weapon to fight the old Government, accusing « of trying to run the stations off the air. so that it could obtain a monopoly of broadcasting. What is happening now? First we nave a Labour Government; second, reports have appeared of certain sales of "B" stations to the Government. , Now, in your last Saturday's issue, appears a report that indicates that we are soon to lose the "Sunshine" station. When all this is boiled down. }ve see that the Labour Government is doing exactly what it accused the previous one of doing. Certainly the Government says it is not forcing the *"B" stations to sell, but what will happen to those that do not sell? They Will have such restrictions imposed on them that they will be glad to sell. Then we have a previous "B" class owner who was loud in his protests against the old Government for foreUig it off the air. Now he is in the Ppsition of helping his former comrades off the air.—Yours, e tc, LOCAL B. Ivvr 1. fW
