WEDDINGS
MARRYATT—PIEKR
The marriage was celebrated recently at St. John's Church, Latimer square, of Harry, elder son of the late Mr R. Marryatt and of Mrs Marryatt (Milton), and Alison Leonie, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Pierr, Opawa. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J.-T. McWilliam, and Mr George Claydon played the wedding music.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a frock of magnolia satin, cut on classical lines, and made with full bishop sleeves, the neckline being finished in front with three spiral rouleaux of the material. Her veil of hend-made Limerick lace was worn off the face, a spray of orange blossom being arranged at the nape of the neck. She carried a sheaf of cream gladioli. Miss Jean Evans, a cousin of the bride, and Miss Jean Smith, who attended as bridesmaids, wore frocks of buttercup taffeta made with full puffed sleeves, the fitting bodices being ruched to yokes trimmed in the centre with three flat bows. The bodices had stitched revers and the wide hemlines of the skirts were trimmed with shirring. Their picture hats' were of stitched taffeta to match their frocks, and they carried posies of lemon begonias.
The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr F. Marryatt. At the reception, held at the Winter Garden, Mrs Pierr received her guests wearing a frock of black triple georgette, trimmed with knife pleating, a black tailored coat, and a black velour hat relieved with white. Her bouquet was of dark red roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a frock of black and white figured silk, a black facecloth coat, and a black velour hat finished with a white mount. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and begonias. The bride travelled in a frock of blue floral crepe, a blue fur-trimmed coat, and a velour hat to tone.
Mr and Mrs H. Marryatt .will make their home in Dunedin.
HURST—BROUGH
At the Congregational Church, Lower Hutt, the wedding was celebrated recently of Terlna. younger daughter of Mr and Mrs* J. Brough (Lower Hutt), to Frank Reginald, only son of the late Mr R. J. Hurst and of Mrs Hurst, Redruth avenue, Spreydon. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. John Gilkison. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of oyster lace, mounted on sutin. and made with a cowled neckline, wide sleeves tapered at the wrists, and a slightlytrained skirt. A halo headdress of satin and orange blossom held to the head, her embroidered veil, and she carried a bouquet of cream and yellow flowers tied with silver ribbon. A frock of pastel-pink lace was worn by the bridesmaid, Miss Nancy McVean. Her hat was of pink tulle and ribbon to match, and she carried a muff of stiffened pink tulle trimmed with trailing ribbons. Mr George Martin was best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at Waddington's tea rooms. Petone, The guests were received by Mrs Brough, who wore a,navy tailored suit and a hat to match. Mrs Hurst wore a pin-striped black tailored suit, with a black hat and fur stole. When Mr and Mrs F. R. Hurst left for the wedding tour, the bride was wearing a dark blue ensemble, a peach bloom felt hat to tone, and a fur stole.
