"WE SAVAGES"
German Contempt Qi Neighbours
DR. GOEBBELS BOASTS OF TREATY BREAKING (UNITED press association—copyright.) (Received February 14, 9.3 p.m.) BERLIN, February 13. An indignant speech was delivered to 20,000 Nazis by Dr. P. J. Goebbels (Minister for Propaganda). He contemptuously referred to France, Russia, Czechoslovakia, and Britain.
He declared: "If we compare political life in the so-called democratic countries, France and Britain, with that in Germany, we find that we savages are fine fellows, after all."
He added: "The French have lost the inclination to march into the Ruhr again. We have torn up the Treaty of Versailles, and thrown it in the face of our opponents. "Rearmament has cost us many sleepless nights, and has entailed great risk. We could not take the German people into our confidence • at the time.
"If we are accused of springing surprises, our reply is that there is no other way possible."
