A DISTINGUISHED VISITOR
SIR ROBERT MUIR IN CHRISTCHURCH
FAMOUS PATHOLOGIST
Sir Robert Muir, F.R.S„ of Glasgow, who arrived in ChristcYvurcVi yesterday, is a noted scientist and scholar. At 20 years of age he graduated M.A. from Edinburgh University, and in 1890, with a gold medal thesis, obtained the degree of Doctor of Medicine. He was lecturer on pathological bacteriology at Edinburgh University in 1894 arid professor of pathology at the University of St. Andrews from 1898 to 1899.
The-Royal Society awarded him its Royal Medal in 1929, he was knighted in 1934, and won the Lister Medal for 1936. From 1899 to 1936 he was professor of pathology at the University of Glasgow. He is also the author of a number of medical text-books and scientific treatises. • ■.''.""
Sir Robert Muir arrived in Christchurch yesterday morning from Wellington and will leave ior the Hermitage to-day. After visiting Dunedin he will return to Christchurch on Saturday next, leaving for Wellington the same evening.
