SEAMEN ON KAIKORAI DISMISSED

+ REFUSAL TO TAKE VESSEL TO SEA (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, December 28. After the refusal of the crew to take the ship to sea, the Union Steam Ship Company's Kaikorai has been laid up, probably till next week. The Kaikorai arrived at Wellington on December 16 from Australia, and it was intended that she should sail early last week for Napier. Through various causes, the departure was postponed from day to day, and last Thursday a deputation from the forecastle informed the master that the seamen and firemen had decided that they were not prepared to 'take the ship to sea until midnight on Sunday. The master warned them of the consequences of deliberate disobedience of his orders, and after consultation with the company's management informed the men that they were all dismissed from the service for disobeving orders. The seamen and firemen later left the ship, which wac held up over the week-end, and to-day the men were paid off.
