SEARCH FOR MISSING MAN
NOTE FOUND IN BOTTLE (FBCBS ASSOCIATION TELEOBAM.) INVERCARGILL, December 28. An intensive search of the coast from Ocean Beach to Greenhills has been carried on by the Bluff police and local residents in an endeavour to find William Middlemiss, of Pyramid, Gore, aged 55 years, who has been missing for several days. About 4 o'clock on Monday afternoon, December 21, he visited the Ocean Beach Freezing Works, and he was seen later walking through the works paddock towards the beach. A bottle containing a note was found, and the note, supposedly written by the missing man, stated that he was going out to sea on a raft. Up to the present no trace of Middlemiss has been found.
