TWO MORE COUNTERFEIT BANKNOTES CASHED

(PBES3 ASSOCIATION TELEGEAM.) AUCKLAND, December 28. Two more counterfeit £5 banknotes have been cashed in Auckland since Christmas Eve. They were handed in to the detective office this morning. One had been cashed at a restaurant in Queen street on Saturday, and the other was passed on Christmas Eve at a Queen street firm of motor-tyre dealers. Exceptional care was exercised by totalisator attendants at Ellerslie on Saturday and again at Epsom to-day in examining all £5 notes tendered to them, but so far no counterfeit notes have been received. Enquiries are still being made by detectives, but so far no arrest has been made.
