CHRISTMAS SERVICES AT AKAROA

Three special services were held at St Peter's Anglican Church, Akaroa, on Christmas Day, when there were large congregations and a record number of communicants. All the services were conducted by the vicar, the Rev. H. Nelson-Wright. The church was prettily decorated with flowers and greenery. At St. Patrick's Church a midnight Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father O'Doherty. HORNBY PLUNKET SOCIETY Mrs J. Gunderson presided at the monthly meeting of the Hornby subbranch of the Plunket Society. The balance-sheet of the bazaar was presented and showed a credit balance. It was decided not to hold a meeting in January. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Hunter and Brownie. The nurse's report for December was: _ Visits to rooms 27 adults, 27 babies, four pre-school children; visits to homes six; new cases two.
