The Minister lor Mines, the Hon. P. C. Webb, will visit the Buller district this week. The Hon. Mark Fagan, Acting-Minister for Customs and leader of the Legislative Council, is at present in Auckland. Mr Justice Kennedy is spending a holiday at Queenstown. Mr W. V. Hobin, who has been on the staff of the Waipawa High School for some years, has received notice of his transfer to the Russell Street School, Palmerston North. Mr E. N. Bardsley, secretary of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, is spending his vacation at St. Leonards, Otago. Sir Charles Clifford has gone to Auckland, arriving there on Satu/day morning. Mr J. McMullan, Duneuin, one of the New Zealand cricket selectors, is in Wellington to see the Plunket Shield match between Wellington and Otago. Mr W. L. Mauger, senior superintendent of police at Delhi, India, left for the north by Saturday evening’s steamer express. Mr Donald W. Woodward, of the Department of Industries and Commerce, Wellington, with Mrs Woodward, is visiting Christchurch. Mr H. A. Gilbert, managing editor of the “New Zealand Motor World,” Wellington, is spending the Christmas and New Year holidays in Christchurch. Mr J. H. Chapman, a member of the staff of the Economic Bureau of the League of Nations at Geneva, is at present spending a holiday in New Zealand. Mr Chapman was formerly a member of the New Zealand Customs Department, and in his present position he deals mainly with customs problems. Mr Robert Pollock has arrived in Christchurch to make arrangements for the Christchurch season of Stanley McKay’s “Gaieties,” which will open next week. Dr. J. F. Duncan (Rossall street), who has been visiting Great Britain, returned to Christchurch yesterday. Mr F. Blick, formerly of the staff of Martin and Company, engineers, Calcutta, who is on a tour of the Dominion, was a visitor to Christchurch yesterday. Flight Lieutenants W. H. Garing ana C D Candy, of the Royal Australian Air Force, are visiting Christchurch.
