Adams again took the lead in the next round, which was marked by in-fighting, with an absence of clean, straight hitting. The thirteenth was a little disappointing. Stock showed signs of weakening and was pushed on to the ropes frequently. There was a brighter opening in the fourteenth. Adams delivered severe rights to his opponent’s head and Stock retaliated with blows to the body. Adams struck out with his left and received right hooks In return. With nothing to lose. One of the brightest boxing contests seen in Auckland for some time took place in the Town Hall on Saturday night, when Billy Martin (Australia) met Neville Mudgway (Waihi). Twelve three-minute rounds were fought. Martin gained the decision on points, and this met with a mixed reception. Martin had the better of the first half of the bout, and displayed remarkable speed, excellent footwork, and ability to vary a twjo-handed attack. Mudgway, after an apparent nervous start, took good measure of his opponent, and was seen to advantage over the later stages of the bout. In fact, he had the visitor groggy several times, and his relentless attack in the final round looked likely to turn the verdict in his favour. EMPIRE FEATHER-WEIGHT TITLE (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) JOHANNESBURG, December 27.
