♦ PLAY IN CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIPS TOURNAMENT COMMENCES ON UNITED GREEN The twenty-third annual open tournament of the Canterbury Croquet Association was commenced on Saturday at the greens of the United Club. During the tournament, the singles and doubles championships of Canterbury will be decided. There were large entries in all sections, Including many prominent players. Play will be continued to-day at 9 a.m. The following were Saturday’s results: — A Level Singles Mrs Beanland beat H. Smith 26-19, Mrs G. Smithson beat Mrs H.
