PIGEON FLYING

EAST CHRISTCHURCH CLUB’S RACE FROM NAPIER The East Christchurch Flying Pigeon Club held a race from Napier recently. The birds were liberated by Mr W. S. Strother at 6.31 a.m. in fine weather and a south-east wind. Only fair times were recorded. The winning bird, owned by R. Bradley, flew the distance of 362 miles 260 yards air-line in lOhrs 13min Isec. Results:—R. Bradley’s 315, 1042.6 yards a minute; A. Green’s Texas, 1042.3; G. W. Robertson’s 963, 1038; A. Dunn’s Royal Surprise, 1027; J. Pearce’s 478, 1025; J. C. Rolton’s All Alone, 1025; J. H. Beale’s Thorpe Lady. 1020; L. Pegley’s 463, 1014; J. Barter’s 587, 1011; G. MacDougall’s French, 994; F. Kingsford’s 69, 850. A. Green’s Texas won the nominated bird prize. R. Bradley won the special for the best average in the three Napier races. J. H. Beale won the special for the hardest race under 400 miles.
