HOLIDAY TRAFFIC IN MARLBOROUGH

A RECORD SEASON LIKELY

[THE PRESB Special Service.] BLENHEIM, December 21. From bookings by mail boat and air services for the holiday period, it appears likely that a record number of people will be travelling to and from Marlborough. The usual bulk of the traffic will occur on Christmas Eve, but some indication of the general increase in passenger traffic is given in the fact that air services between Blenheim and Wellington have been operating almost at capacity for several days past. On Christmas Eve this service will be running practically at hah%hour intervals and provision has been made for 10 trips each way. In addition, the time-table of the Union Line will be increased by two extra trips between Palmerston North and Christchurch. On Wednesday, there will be two additional trips to and from Wellington. Many people also have booked trips for Christmas Day and for the remaining two days of the week-end. It is anticipated that the booking will be exceptionally heavy. - In addition to the ordinary services, several flights have been booked for the Marlborough Aero Club Waco. There are exceptionally heavy bookings also on the Tamahine between Wellington and Picton and this year there seems to be every indication that the Malborough Sounds and other parts of the province will be visited by even greater numbers of holidaymakers than last year, when something approaching a record was set up. Bookings for the transport of cars across Cook Strait are also exceptionally heavy.
