MOUNT SOMERS VESTRY

A meeting of the Mount Somers vestry was attended by the Rev. W. T. Williams, Messrs A. N. Grigg (vicar's warden), J. H. Boaler and S. Jones (Ruapuna), L. P. Chapman (Mayfield), J. Mclver (Anama), J. A. Mears (Mount Somers). G. L. Bufton (Bushside), J. R. Grigg (Alford Forest), and J. T. Bull (people's warden). Mr Bufton reported that a successful start had been made, by means of a garden party, to raise funds for the building of a church at Bushside. More than £45 had been raised and with further promises the fund now reached about £BO. It was agreed to call a meeting of the Staveley-Bush-side-Alford Forest districts early in the New Year to decide the site of the church.

For the annual parish effort it was decided to hold a Coronation bazaar on Saturday, May 8.- To augment the general finances, it was decided that a fleece drive be undertaken immediately, whil shearing is in progress. Mr Williams and others paid a tribute to the work carried out in the parish by the Revs. R. A. Carson, H. S. Hamilton, and A. H. Childs during the vicar's absence.
