RELIEF FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS

♦ ■ ASSOCIATION'S EXECUTIVE MEETS A decrease £>f 25 in applications for assistance was reported to the Returned Soldiers' Association executive by the association's general assistance committee last evening. The total number in the last fortnight was 151, against 176 in the previous fortnight. Applications granted totalled 144. The employment committee reported to the executive a total of 444 registrations for the last fortnight, against 451 for the previous fortnight. Work '."as subsidised f>T 193 men for 234 days at a cost of £76 19s 3d, compared with 172 for 209 days at a cost of £69 3s sd. Work for 33 days was found without subsidy. Mr B. O. Priddis. president of the association, was in the chair.
