MILK SUPPLY IN CITY

SPECIAL COMMITTEE'S WORK QUESTIONNAIRE TO PRODUCERS AND VENDORS Seeking information about the quantity of milk supplied daily, the mileage entailed in delivery, the source of the supply, and other relevant details, a questionnaire is being sent by a special committee of the City Council to every producer and vendor supplying milk for consumption in the city. This action was reported to the council last night by the committee, which was set up recently to investigate the city's milk supply. The committee's report stated that it should aim at a complete investigation on such matters as the effect of the introduction of guaranteed prices for butter-fat on the winter supply, the ability of the vendor to maintain suitable deliveries and adequate plant in view of the increasing sale of milk from shops, the effect of the present financial returns on the quality of the milk, the need for a board of control, the advisability of pasteurisation, and the desirability of eliminating overlapping in delivery. It was hoped to have the co-opera-tion of the producers and vendors in obtaining this information, and the questionnaire was being' sent out so that the fullest details would be available to the committee. The report added that the arranging of tests of the milk supplied in the city had been considered, but this matter had been held over with a view to ascertaining if adequate information was available about tests made recently over a period. ____________
