BROADCASTING VMM JERUSALEM

TO THI EDITOB OF THI PBBSS. Sir,—The enclosed statement, noted in the "Advent Herald," may interest many of your readers who are interested in scriptural prophecy:— "March 30, 1936. was an eventful day not only for Jerusalem, but for the whole of Palestine. At 4.15 p.m. of that memorable day the broadcasting station was officially opened by his

Excellency the High Commissioner of Palestine, Sir Arthur Wauchope. In the same moment when the orchestra started the English National Anthem and the Union Jack was being hoisted, the High Commissioner pressed the knob, bringing thus the electric current into motion. After this, the general postmaster, Mr Hudson, called out in Esglish, saying, 'Hello, hello! Jerusalem speaking.' His words were translated first into Arabic, then into Hebrew. In his message the High Commissioner said that the broadcasting station will serve the interests of all the inhabitants of this land. It shall not have anything to do with politics. "The two broadcasting towers stand near Ramallah (the RamathamZophin of 1 Samuel 1: 1-19). The station does great service by transmitting the daily official reports of the Government to the people of Palestine. Even the remotest villager can" hear the news, as there are radios, put up by the Government, within the .reach of everyone. It was at Ramallah (Ramah) ("Hill of God"), nine miles north of Jerusalem, that Samuel, who anointed David, was bom (1 Samuel I: 19-20). One cannot forget those memorable words of Samuel to the Lord, 'Speak; for thy servant heareth' (1. Samuel: 3-10). And now from that same spot the world is being spoken to through this Jerusalem broadcasting station. 'Coming events cast their shadows before.' A still greater broadcast from Jerusalem is imminent, because when Christ comes again, 'Out of Zion shall go forth the law and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem.' (Isaiah: 2-3). The lesser broadcast is soon to be supplanteH by the greater."—Yours, etc., THY SERVANT HEARETH. Auckland, December 18, 1936.
