TYPEWRITING AND SHORTHAND
EXAMINATION RESULTS The following pupils cf Digby's Commercial School were successful candidates at the special and intermediate Public Service shorthand-typists' examinations held at the end of November:— Special (shorthand 150 and typewriting not less than 50 words a minute)—Brenda N. Sullivan (the only Christchurch pass). Intermediate (shorthand 130 and typewriting not less than 50 words a minute)— Catherine James 1, Brenda N. Sullivan 2, Patricia A. Townsend 3. Ellen M. Stratford 4 (the only Christchurch passes). The following students from the same school gained first-class speed and theory certificates from Pitman's examination department, Melbourne, at an examination conducted by the Christchurch Shorthand Writers' Association in November last:— 150 Words a Minute—Brenda Sullivan, Patricia Townsend. 140 words a minute: Kathleen Coote. 130 words a minute:
Catherine James, Cusheen O Byrne. 110 words a minute: Gladys Rose. 100 words a minute: Marie Bryant, Enid McDonald. 80 words a minute: Olga Bathurst, Dorothy Bullivan' Dorothy McGrath. 70 words a minute: Mavis Maddren, Margaret Staniland, Ron.. Wear. 60 words a minute: Betty Bryant. „ , Theory Certificates (first three in order of merit)— Cecil J. Rowlatt. Catherine Mahoney, Margaret Lindsay. Ena Brume, Jean Bruce, Dorothy Bullivant, Dulcie Weston. The certificate of the Christchurch Shorthand Writers' Association was awarded to the following writer of Gregg shorthand: 130 words a minute, Helen Mitchell.
