OBITUARY
MISS EDITH CLAYTON At her home at St. Albans, the death occurred recently of Miss Edith Clayton, an enthusiastic member of the Knox Presbyterian Church, and an ardent worker-in the cause of the needy. Miss Clayton lived for many years at Akaroa, where she was superintendent of the Presbyterian Sunday School for more than 25 years, and organist of the church at Akaroa for many years.
Coming to Christchurch several years ago, she became an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Missionary Union. The funeral took place at the Bromley cemetery, the Rev. T. W. Armour conducting the service. Pall-bearers were Messrs Donald, McAlister, Church, and J. Brownell. FIVE O’CLOCK PARTY A Christchurch visitor to Wellington, Mrs J. H. Hall (Papanui road), who is staying with Mrs R. C. Addison (Kelburn), gave a pleasant little sherry party at the Midland Hotel on Monday afternoon for another southern visitor, Miss Peggy Acton-Adams, of Tipapa, North Canterbury, who has been staying at Heretaunga, Miss Acton-Adams, who returned south yesterday, wore a grey .flannel suit with an almond green hat and blouse and fox furs. Mrs Hall wore a navy tweed suit with a broadtail coat and a navy velour hat Those present included Mr and Mrs Charles Miles, Mrs Beetham, Misses Alison Addison, Uilda Miles, Helen Whyte, Georgette Handyside, Messrs Nesbit, Sellers, Trevor Lane, John Roberts, Andrew McLean, Robert Carney, and Tuvey.
