MATAROA ARRIVES

AN UNEVENTFUL VOYAGE The Shaw, Savlll and Albion Line’s R.M.S. Mataroa arrived at Lyttelton yesterday after an uneventful voyage from Southampton and began discharging London cargo. The vessel left London on May 14 and Southampton the following day. She arrived at Panama on May 28, left on May 29, and reached Wellington on Wednesday morning, sailing again for Lyttelton m the evening. Except for a southerly storm which delayed her a little off Wellington, the weather was good all the way.

Of the 25 passengers aboard at Southampton, there were only five for the South Island. These were Mrs S. M. Buddie, Miss J. A. Buddie, and Mr J. J. Buddie, all of whom disembarked at Lyttelton, and Misses A. G. and A. E. Hill Jack, who were booked through to Port Chalmers, the next port of call. Among the passengers who left the ship in Wellington were Lady Angela Dawnay, the youngest daughter of the late Duke of Buccleugh and sister of the Duchess of Gloucester. She was with her husband, Lieutenant-Commander P. Dawnay, who has come out to join the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy. The Mataroa is commanded by Captain A. Mclntosh, and her officers are:—Chief, Mr T. T. Oliver; second, Mr G. Campbell; third, Mr E. MacFarren; chief engineer, Mr J. Young; second, Mr G. H. Chappell; third, Mr S. Nicol; surgeon, Dr. C. B. Tudehope; purser, Mr E. W. White; chief steward, Mr E. Pugh.
