TRAMPING EXCURSION ON KING’S BIRTHDAY
The first of the round trip tramping excursions arranged by the Railway Department for the 1936 season will take place on the King’s Birthday. The train will leave Christchurch at 8 a.m. for Little River, whence trampers will take the road for the 12-mile walk to Diamond Harbour via the summit and Purau tracks. At Diamond Harbour trampers will board the launch for Lyttelton, and there join the train for Christchurch. The tramp from Little River to Diamond Harbour is a fine one, embracing a splendid panorama of Banks Peninsula and Pegasus Bay.
