SELECTING TEST TEAM TRIAL MATCH DRAWN (UKZTXD PBXSS ASSOCIATION—COPTEIGHT.) LONDON, June 15. The test trial match, North v. South, was drawn. North, in the first innings made 321 (Mitchell 53, Wyatt 67, Hardstaff not out 89). Cover took five wickets for 93 runs and Robins five for 78. South in the first innings made 363 (Turnbull 106). The critics agree that the test trial ending in an honourbale but somewhat barren draw did not reveal much to assist the selectors. To-day’s high light was Turnbull’s quick-footed and impressive innings. Allen was not conspicuous, but his batting and bowling revealed sound generalship, and his selection is announced for the captaincy of the first test against India. His performance in the tests will undoubtedly influence his chances of the captaincy for the Australian tour. INDIANS DRAW WITH NOTTINGHAMSHIRE _,, T t LPNDON. June 16.
