Jim Ferrier, the Australian golfer, practising on the Royal Liverpool course for the open golf championship, holed at the thirteenth, 179 yards in one. CHEVIOT CLUB The final of the eclectic competition, for the trophies given by Mrs G. L. Rutherford, “Connemara,” Parnassus, was played on the Cheviot links and resulted as follows; Women: Miss N. Cottrell net 67, Miss M. McDonald net 70, Men: Dr. L. H. Marshall, 4 up, 1. Next best scores were; A. K. Smith 3 up, T. Edridge 3 up, and M. Childs 2 up. On Sunday a team of four women and eight men from the Amberley Golf Club visited Cheviot and played a friendly match with a Cheviot team. Cheviot won tlie match by 16i games to IJ. KAIAPOI LADIES’ CLUB The qualifying round for the foursomes | knock-out was played on Tuesday. The following were the best cards:—Mrs Leithead and Miss Stark, 97. 20—77; Mesdames Paton and Smith, 99, 19—80; Mrs Bennetts and Miss Stewart, 110, 29—81; Mrs Hirst and Miss Martyn, 111, 25 —86; Mesdames Edwards and Wilson. 112, 25 — 87; Mesdames Corcoran and Rinaldi. 113. 25—88; Misses Wright and Fisher, 119, 28 —9l; Mesdames Johnston and Hammer, 109, 18—91. ELLESMERE CLUB A Stableford bogey match resulted in a win for W. P. Sutherland, with a score of 38, Dr. E. W. Hunt being runner-up with a score of 34. In the women’s section a bogey match was won by Mrs E. W. Hunt. CULVERDEN CLUB The following were the best cards returned for the bogey match played during the week-end:— Women—Mrs Maxwell, 3 down; Miss Chamberlain, 6 down; Miss A. Draper 6 down; Miss E.
