STREET APPEAL TOMORROW URGENT NEED OF FUNDS The street appeal for the funds of the Young Women’s Christian Association to be made to-morrow is commended to the citizens of Christchurch in letters from the Mayor, Mr John W. Beahland, the president of the association, Mrs Warren, and the Rev. E. Drake, vice-president. The Mavor: “I do sincerely trust that the street appeal will be a great success, as the work which the Young Women’s Christian Association is doing deserves the sympathy and help of all citizens. The need of a hostel in this city cannot be overlooked. “I know the committee must be having a very difficult time, and I hope that Wednesday next will be a fine day, so that you will receive a really good collection." Mrs Warren: “As president of the Young Women’s Christian Association, I want to ask Christchurch citizens for their generous support to the Young Women’s Christian Association Street Day. Last year we made no street appeal, and the year before we had to share. So this year we need not only our ordinary maintenance, but we need also to make up the deficiency of the last two years. We therefore need your help most 5 urgently. You will realise I know that the Young Women’s Christian Association stands in your community for ‘Every need of every girl.’ I believe in the girl of to-day, and I believe that she- is of paramount importance to the' cominunity. May I ask. then, for yoUr generous help?’- * The Rev. E. Drake: “On behalf of the" Social Council of Christian Churches.it gives me great pleasure to commend the work of the Young Women’s Christian Association to the sympathy and generosity of the people of Christchurch.. In a city so conspicuous for its liberality to all good causes: I am sure that this appeal for work amongst the girls . of the community will meet with a ready and willing response.”
