£14,000 DRAINAGE SCHEME
MINISTER APPROVES PLAN FOR ASHBURTON [From Our Own Reporter,] DUNEDIN, March 16. At a cost,, of £14,000 a drainage scheme to serve Hampstead, the eastern portion of Ashburton, will be undertaken' shortly. The scheme, had been approved'by. the ..Public .Works Department more than a yegr ago, but it h*ad not been possible to arrange finance. The local Government Loans. Board had, sanctioned a loan of £12,000, and the Unemployment Board had undertaken .to provide a subsidy of £.1680, leaving a deficiency of £320. The deficiency was caused r by a change in’ plans after the loan had been approved... To-day, when the Minister for Public Works, (the Hon. R.
