DUTIES TO FINISH TO-MORROW
BEACH PATROL AT NEW BRIGHTON
The duties of the beach patrolman at New Brighton (Mr A,« L. Taylor) will finish to-morrow afternoon. The beach has been patrolled every day for the last eight weeks, and although large numbers of bathers visited the beach during the. Christmas holidays, no rescues were necessary. For the first six weeks, the funds for employing the patrolman were supplied by the Canterbury Surf Asscciation. After that time no further money was available from the association, so as the weather remained fine, the committee of the New Brighton Surf-Bathing and Life-Saving Club decided to employ him for an extra two weeks, using the, profits derived from a picture benefit held earlier in the season. Each Sunday, members cf the surf club have been on patrol duty.
