EVIDENCE TO BE SUBMITTED
COMMERCIAL TRUSTS ACT MINISTER'S INVITATION TO CHAMBER The Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with numerous trade organisations, will prepare evidence for submission to the Industries and Commerce Committee of the House of Representatives, which will shortly consider the Commercial Trusts Act Amendment Bill. Notice of the Government's intention to reintroduce the measure this session was received by the chamber yesterday from the Minister for Industries and Commerce, the Hon. R. Masters. The Minister's letter states that the measure will be on the game lines as that placed before Parliament last year. There will be no delay and the bill will be referred immediately for consideration to the Industries and Commerce Committee of the House. The committee will take evidence and it will be quite competent for the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce to place its views before that body. The letter suggests that the chamber arrange with the chairman of the committee, the Hon. A. D. McLeod, for a suitable opportunity to submit its evidence and representations. "The reception the measure will receive in the House will depend largely on the recommendations of the committee," which, in turn, will be largely guided by the evidence submitted to it." the letter adds.
