ATTEMPT TO SMUGGLE OPIUM
SEAMAN FINED £123 (TRESS ASSOCIATION TELEOEAIO WELLINGTON, April 9. Herbert James Masterton, aged 35, a seaman, was caught by a Customs official coming oil the Wanganella last night with six tins of opium on his person. He was fined £l2s—the minimum—-to-day, ip default three months' imprisonment. The opium, which was worth at least £6O, was automatically forfeited.
