LODGE HOSPITAL BOARD

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the United Medical and Hospital Board (comprising 1.0. Rechabites and Sons of Temperance) was held last Friday evening in the Young Men's Christian Association building, Bro. A. Martin (chairman) presiding over a good attendance of delegates. Gratification was expressed at the continued amicable relations between the medical officers, the hospital authorities and the board. The finances, despite heavy inroads, were considered satisfactory. The membership showed an increase for the year of 73, and now totalled 1660. A total of 186 members were admitted to the Public Hospital during the year, beds occupied being 2827. Beds in the Sanatorium numbered 1246, in the infectious diseases hospital 53, and in private hospitals 387. As showing the benefits received by members, 55,826 beds in hospital had been provided since the inception of the scheme. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Chairman, Bro. A. Martin; financial secretary, Bro. C. H. Bascand; minute secretary, Bro. W. Grenfell; stewards, Bros. Kent and Liebert; auditors, Bros. E. A. M. Leaver and J. C. Wykes; sick visitor, Bro. J. H. Jones. An allocation of £6B 16s 7d was made on behalf of unemployed members' contributions for the last year.
