FIRE IN COAL MINE
* ATTEMPTS TO QUELL SERIOUJ OUTBREAK (SPECIAL TO THE PKESS.) GREYMOUTH, November 10. The fire at Armstrong and party': co-operative coal mine, at the Ter Mile, is proving serious. The fire i: situated in the main dip, in the goa of the old workings, and in the un sealed sections is blazing fiercely. I is hoped that it will not be necessary to flood the mine, and hoses an being played in the affected area. Al ready seven stoppings have been buill and a further four will be complete! to-morrow. There are 10 men, mem bers of the party, and wages mer under Mr V. Armstrong, at the min and they have worked night and da; since Thursday morning with littl rest, in order to quell the outbreak.
