SEARCH FOR TOMB OF EGYPTIAN QUEEN
MR HOWARD CARTER AT WORK. A CAINLONDON. October 23. Mr Howard Carter, who discovered Tutankhamen's tomb, is going to Egypt to search for the tomb of Tutankhamen's Queen, who is believed to have been buried in 1300 8.C.. near her husband in the Valley of Kings. He says several tombs of queens are known to exist in a special portion of the Valley of Kings. If his search is successful the tomb may yield treasures rivalling those of Tutankhamen. It will probably take months of research to discover the position of the tomb. Mr Carter adds: "There is little chance of finding Cleopatra's tomb, which for ages has been the dream of archaeologists. There were eight" Egyptian queens named Cleopatra and the only authentic proof that the famous queen was associated with Mark Antony is small. Legends about her have grown so amazingly that it is no longer possible to distinguish history from imagination. '
