PIGEON RACING IN N.Z.
♦ PLANS FOR JUBILEE Plans for the suitable commemoration in 1935 of the sixtieth anniversary of pigeon racing in New Zealand were made by a meeting of delegates from six Christchurch clubs last evening, when it was decided that a special series of races be held next year. The clubs represented were Eastern, Premier, Canterbury, Somefville, Christchurch, and Avonside. Mr A. T. Smith, who with Mr H. Cotton won the first race, presided over an attendance of 18. The meeting decided that three races be held in both senior and junior divisions, the seniors fixing their startingpoints as Invercargill, Napier, and Waiouru, and the juniors selecting Invercargill, Feilding, and Woodville. It was resolved that the delegates present should form a committee to arrange necessary organisation. Mr G. Robertson (Christchurch Flying Club) was appointed convener of the seniors, while Mr A. Smith (Christchurch Racing Pigeon Society) will be convener for the juniors. Tiie chairman stated that probably a special jubilee booklet would be prepared.
