SCHOOL CERTIFICATE
"FAIRER TEST OF CAPACITY THAN MATRICULATION" (PBZBS ISSOCUTXOV TZLZ3BAK.) WELLINGTON, June 27. The Wellington College Board of Governors yesterday afternoon supported the recommendation of the principal of tho boys' school (Mr W. A. Armour) that school certificate examinations based on a satisfactory course would give business men a fairer gauge of a boy's capacity and attainments when applying for work than was afforded by matriculation. . Mr Armour said that nine-tenths of the pupils did not go on to the university. Certificate examinations, speci- i ally designed to meet the wider needs of pupils preparing for avenues of employment along non-academic lines, were what Mr Armour suggested.
