SOLDIERS' CLUB ROOM
VISIT BY SIR PHILIP GAME Sir Philip Game, Governor of New South Wales, accompanied by Lady Game, paid a visit to the Christchurch Returned Soldiers' Association club rooms yesterday afternoon. Their Excellencies were met by the Rev. F. T. Read, president of the association, Messrs A. L. Emerson, W. E. Leadley, A. H. Parfitt and G. Dabourne (members of the executive), and Mr E. F. Willcox (secretary). The visitor said he was very highly pleased with the club premises, and considered that the returned soldiers of Christchurch were very fortunate indeed. He inspected the poppies that are being made by disabled soldiers in Christchurch, and was much impressed by the quality. The proposed cottage homes settlement scheme was also explained to Sir Philip, but time did not allow of his visiting the site. Sir Philip was on active service with the Imperial forces and a relief plan of the Ypres battlefield which is placed in the vestibule of the club proved of great interest to him. St. John Ambulance Headquarters Accompanied by Lady Wigram, Sir Philip Game inspected the St. John Ambulance headquarters in Peterborough street yesterday morning, and showed a lively interest in the working of that organisation, and in its well-appointed ambulance station. The guests were met by Mr C. H. Kersley, secretary to the association, Dr. F. J. Borrie. and Mr C. W.
